Amy Morgan
Amy found her passion for the waters of Howe Sound in 2011. As an environmental educator and scuba instructor, she describes the beautiful diversity below the sea and connects her audience to a deeper awareness of the impact our actions have on that marine life. As a volunteer for the Ocean Wise Research Institute, Marine Mammal Rescue Centre, REEF and the Artificial Reef Society she deepened her knowledge of Vancouver’s water ways. A year later, while attending a seminar on the deep sponge bioherms, she decided to become a true aquanaut with the Sponge Bioherm Research Team to gather as much information on these amazing animals firsthand. “Howe Sound is teetering on the edge of the moderate successes of industrial recovery and the insidious effects of climate change. Understanding the health of these sponges will protect the health of our entire community.”
